ADC election : NPF to contest in all Naga areas

Senapati, April 02 2015 : Confident of winning majority of the seats in the Naga dominated hill districts of Manipur in the upcoming ADC election, the Naga Peoples' Front (NPF) has announced that it will contest in all the ADC seats especially in Naga areas and areas where NPF has supporters.

The announcement came in the wake of the BJP and Congress expressing its intentions of contesting in all possible seats of the hill districts.

According to NPF, Manipur Unit, president Awangbou, NPF has completed its political campaign in many places in different districts.

More such campaigns will be organized at Komlathabi, Chingai, Thonglang and Senapati district headquarters in the coming few days time after Easter.

He also indicated that unlike other parties inviting any intending candidates for elections, the NPF will give special emphasis on consensus candidate as done earlier.

The NPF President and former MLA also hit out at Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam statement and added that the party is fully confident of winning majority in all the Naga areas.

People's call for ADC election and establishing local self Government is increasing day by day.

Participation of voters in the coming election is expected to be very high with more candidates in the fray, he added.

Here, any decision by any civil bodies as witnessed in the past years to 'boycott or abstain from election' is expected to take a backseat as the involvement and benefits of political participation and its impact has increased in recent years.

Activities of intending candidates too have picked up pace with many seeking tickets for the polls scheduled to be held on May 30.Political parties too have invited intending candidates to enroll and seek ticket.

All the three major parties that is the Congress, BJP and NPF have expressed confidence of scoring high in the polls.

With BJP National President Amit Shah scheduled to visit Manipur from April 16 and also Senapati on April 18 (not official) the party will depend on the Modi wave and its advantages.

The Congress party, in power for the third consecutive term is expected to utilise all its resources and try a repeat of the 2012 Assembly election.

The NPF which has been in power in Nagaland for three terms and backed by powerful Naga civil bodies has spread its wings in Naga areas of Manipur and has four MLAs.

It is set to bat for devolution of ADC power, expediting the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process and tribal rights in Manipur.

This has gone down well with many Nagas of Manipur.
