Imphal, March 29 2022:
In a new low, the State detected just one positive case of COVID-19 from Ukhrul district out of 563 samples tested in the last 24 hours and registered a single day positivity rate of 0.2 per cent.
The active cases have been lowered to 36 as two persons from CCCs were discharged after recuperation today to increase the recovered cases to 1,34,931 .
Notably, no deaths were also reported in the period and as such the death toll remains at 2,120 with Imphal West topping the chart as the district has reported 704 deaths so far while Pherzawl is still at the bottom with zero deaths.
Despite the improving situation and as highlighted by The Sangai Express routinely, the rate of Covid vaccination is still of concern in some hill districts as many of them haven't fully vaccinated even half of its eligible population and this may prove costly lest the situation worsens.
For instance, the rate of vaccination coverage (2nd dose) of some hill districts stands at Kangpokpi (16.45 pc), Ukhrul (23.34 pc), Kamjong (27.63 pc), Senapati (29.52 pc), Tamenglong (33.98 pc), Noney (34.30 pc), Pherzawl (36 pc) and Tengnoupal (36.60 pc) .
Chandel and Churachandpur, on the other hand, have fully vaccinated 59.50 and 53.60 pc of its eligible population.
Yesterday, the State distributed 281 D-type and 97 B-type oxygen cylinders to different health facilities and administered 3127 Covid vaccine doses.
As per COVID Common Control Room, at least 476 Covid beds are vacant at JNIMS (297) and RIMS (179) .
