Moirang Shai Festival 2022 begins

Bishnupur, December 23 2022: The "Festival of Moriang Shai 2022" jointly organised by Moirang Thangjing Yageirel Marup, Moirang College, Kumbi College and Khamba Thoibi Dance Academy, Moirang began today at INA Martyr's Memorial Hall in Moirang.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Moirang AC MLA, Thongam Shanti; Salam Ibochouba, Ingu Khadrakpa, Ibudhou Thangjing Moirang; L Kishorjit Singh, Director Art & Culture; and Ch Modhumangol Singh, Principal Kumbi College as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Thongam Shanti appreciated Moirang Thangjing Yageirel Marup, Moirang College, Kumbi College and Khamba Thoibi Dance Academy for organising the festival to promote the Moirang Shai.

He also stressed on the importance of preserving the traditions & culture of the Meitei community.

The MLA further shared that his office is always open to help the people and urged all to come forward for assistance on various issues including welfare schemes initiated by the Government.

During the event, floral tributes were paid to the portraits of Late Philem Ningol Ningthemcha Ongbi Jati Devi and Late Oinam Ongbi Kaminibidhu Devi.

A painting competition was also conducted for students from Class III-VII on the theme, "Loika Loikum" .

Th Tejbati Devi and her group also presented a demonstration of Moirang Shai.

In the technical session, Prof M Jugindro Singh, History Department, Moirang College; Assistant Prof Makhonmani Mongshaba; Manipur University of Culture; Dr K Bidyarani Devi, History Department, Kumbi College; K Jugeshore Singh, retired Principal Kumbi College; and Ph Tampakleima Devi, History Department, Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School delivered lectures on various topics.
