Manipur crush Meghalaya by an innings & 73 runs

Manipur continued their peerless form as they pummelled Meghalaya by an innings and 73 runs on the second day of their U-16 boys' Vijay Merchant Trophy match at Ravenshaw University Ground 1, Cuttack on Friday.
Kaiku's stellar bowling performance with figures of W-5, R-8, O-7.2 helped Manipur dismiss Meghalaya for a paltry first-innings total of 72 after the latter had won the toss and elected to bat.
The other bowlers contributing to Manipur's bowling success were Naesh and Danish, who both grabbed two wickets, and Rain who took one.
Meghalaya's G Narleng (39) and Bj Makdoh (12) were the only batters who got into double figures in their first innings.
Manipur then produced a fine batting performance, spearheaded by Rain, to amass 233/9 at stumps on the first day, leading the first innings by 154 runs.
Rain stood out in the innings with 94 off 95 balls as Binson impressed with 58.Also contributing to Manipur's first-innings total in double digits were Sougaijam (21), Donba (20) and Naesh (14).In the process, five of Manipur's wickets fell prey to A Marak, two to M Gupta, and one each to P Ali, GJ Thakuria and G Narleng.
Trailing by 154 runs, Meghalaya found the going tough as they could only add 81 runs in their second innings to suffer a heavy defeat.
Danish led the Manipur's lethal bowling assault with 5 wickets while Rain snapped 2, with Naesh, Kaiku and Sougaijam taking one each to hand their team an innings and 73 runs victory.
