Senior Women's Football League : L Nira nets four as ESU thrash ICSA 5-2, MPSC cruise to third win on trot

Imphal, December 22 2023:
L Nira scored four goals in Eastern Sporting Union's 5-2 win as Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) extended their winning run to three in the 9th match of the 14th AMFA Senior Women's League being underway at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) who suffered a 1-3 loss to MPSC in the opening match rode on Longjam Nira's late heroics to overwhelm ICSA-Irengbam 5-2 .
ESU made the most of the possession and scoring chances from the beginning to take a 2-1 lead before the break and pumped in three goals off Nira in the second half against ICSA's one to seal the comfortable 5-2 win.
Naorem Henerita found the breakthrough in the 13th minute before Longjam Nira added the team's second in the 19th minute.
Oinam Babita of ICSA however pulled back a goal the next minute to make it 1-2 at half time.
ICSA made their way back into game with Irengbam Geetarani scoring the equaliser in the 59 minute but ESU rallied back stronger in the later stages and saw Longjam Rina produce a masterful performance by firing home three goals (74', 78', 80') in the last 6 minutes to snatch the victory for ESU.
Later in the day, MPSC defeated FC Imphal by 2-0 goals in a one sided competition for the third win on the trot.
Ningombam Chanchan Chanu gave MPSC a 1-0 lead with a clinical strike in the 19th minute before Ngangom Bala Devi hit the decisive goal in the 56th minute to earn MPSC third win and end FC Imphal's two game winning streak.
YWC-Thambalkhong will play YWC-Langthabal in the next match on December 26 at 11.15 am before WFA take on ICSA from 1.15 pm .
