State Level Polo : Linthoinganbi Kangjei Lup, Arvind Polo Club crowned women and junior boys' champions

Imphal, April 12 2024: Linthoinganbi Kangjei Lup (LKL) and Arvind Polo Club emerged champions of the 19th State Women's and 7th U-16 Boys' Polo Tournaments organised by the All Manipur Polo Association.

In the women's final held yesterday, LKL sealed a 5-3 win over Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club (CHPC) riding on goals from Kh Habe (2), M Bijenty (1), M Priya (1) and Kh Deventy.

LKL enjoyed a 3-0 lead till the first two chukkers before M Priya and Deventy took turns to add a goal each in the third and the fourth chukkers.

For CHPC, Neelu RK scored twice in the third chukker to make it 2-4 before Th Tanna scored one in the fourth chukker.

Meanwhile in the boys' final, Arvind Polo Club overwhelmed Thoubal District Polo Association 9-3 courtesy of five goals from Wahengbam Kedanath and two goals each from K Bonison and A Bijoy.

Arvind Polo Club led the first chukker 2-1 with K Bonison and A Bijoy scoring a goal each before Wakongthem Rujit scored one for TDPA.

K Bonison scored his second goal in the second chukker to make it 3-1 before Kedanath scored thrice in the third chukker for Arvind PC and Abijit scored one for TDPA to make it 6-2 .

Kedanath scored twice and A Bijoy scored one in between Kedanath's goal in the final chukker which also saw Wangjam Nongdamba score one for the losing team.

Women's winners and runners up teams were feted with cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 and trophies while the junior champions and runners up teams were feted with cash prizes of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively besides trophies.
