MU announces wushu teams for AIIU Championships

Imphal, January 20 2024: The Department of Sports, Manipur University has announced the names of wushu players selected to represent Manipur University at the All India Inter University (AIIU) Championships to be hosted by the University of Jammu from February 13 to 17 .

The selected players and their respective events are as follows.

Men's Sanda : Ng Hrangaolou of Mt Everest College (48 kg), S Sunil of Biramangol College (52 kg), Naresh Nongmaithem of Kumbi College (56 kg), M Bibishon of Kakching Khunou College (60 kg), H Priyojit of Kakching Khunou College (65 kg), S Hitter Singh of N Birahari College (70 kg), S Rohit of Biramangol College (75 kg), Md Rahish of Lilong Haoreibi College (80 kg), K Bidyasagar of Moirang College (85 kg) .

Men's Taolu : Ch Dinesh of Biramangol College (Nanquan, Nandao, Nangun); Bonish Yurembam of Regional College (Nanquan, Nandao, Nangun) and Sohan Yumnam of Manipur University (Taijiquan and Taijijian) .

Women's Sanda : L Tomba Devi of CI College (45 kg), P Thoicha Devi of W Mani Girls College (48 kg), B Tamphasana Devi of Kumbi College (52 kg), T Priyaluxmi Devi of Biramangol College (56 kg), H Chaoba Devi of Biramangol College (60 kg), Th Dolly Devi of Kakching Khunou College (65 kg), E Etaly Chanu of Kakching Khunou College (70 kg), T Kabita Devi of CI College (75 kg) .

Women's Taolu : Th Sandeshwori Chanu of Thambal Marik College (Yang Style and Traditional Taichishan), W Silivia Devi of Thambal Marik College (Changquan and Daoshu), Heikham Dayani of Ng Mani College (Winchun, Single Weapon, Flexible Weapon) and H Soniya Sharma of SK Women's College (Nanquan and Southern Style) .

The athletes were instructed to report to the Assistant Director of Sports, MU on January 24 at 11 am.

The Department of Sports also named handball teams for the East Zone Inter University Tournament 2023-24 .

As per an office order, Shilheiba Th, Athouba K, L Hemba, Beckham L and L Superjit of BMC; I Roshan Meitei, A Tondonba Singh and T Yaiphaba of Pravabati College; N Sitaljit, Mocha Kh, L Santosh and L Ortega of Pole Star; Nicholas Kh of MU; W Nganba of NIELIT; Th Pravash of Regional and J Kennedy of NBC are named in the men's team.

The women's team meanwhile include H Abesana (GK), H Abya Devi (GK), Th Anjubala, Th Jenila Devi, H Jenita Chanu, L Umabati and L Sonalika of SSGGC; M Kirantombi Chanu (GK), Y Monika Devi, L Ronibala Devi, K Soniya Devi, A Roshini Devi and Kh Meloda of BMC; Ng Ranjita of NGMC, Th Balina of MU and Th Anjali of WMGC.

The players were also directed to report to the Assistant Director of Sports, MU on January 24 at 11 am .
