Sana Konung Meira Paibi and the JAC against the brutal killing of Takhellambam Manoranjan raised strong objection to Emoinu fish festival, which was planned to be organised by Fishery Department in connection with Emoinu Irat Thouni Thouram on January 22 and also stopped all the preparations going on for the festival.
Speaking in this regard on Saturday, Sana Konung Meira Paibi secretary Yumnam Ibeyaima recalled that even 'Ningol Chakkouba' festival was not celebrated this year in view of the prevailing situation.
Why such fish mela is to be conducted amidst the trying these times, she asked, while adding that for Imoinu festival offering prayer to the goddess for peace and prosperity of the land is enough.
The womenfolk are coming out on the streets as they are discontented because of the brutal killings by Kuki militants, she said, while enquiring the about motive of CM in giving nod to organising such fish festival.
Conducting such festival in the midst of the present unrest will not be allowed, she made it clear.
Stating that 48 hours Manipur bandh has been called against the killing of Manoranjan of Thiyam Konjil by Kuki militants, she said that womenfolk blocked roads in support of the bandh.
People even took a detour without any complaint when the road is blocked or the route is diverted for the Republic Day celebration rehearsal.
However, it is unfortunate to witness people showing least concern and insisting on giving passage when bandh is called against the brutal killing of innocent people by Kuki militants, she denounced.
Representing the JAC, sister inlaw of Manoranjan denounced the preparation made for organising fish mela at Hapta Kangjeibung, while Thiyam Konjil meira paibi were going around for ensuring success of the bandh.
She questioned the government how they are going eat fish delicacies when the bodies of their sons are lying in the morgues.
Why does the government remain silent when he (Manoranjan) was martyred while trying to protect and defend the land, she asked.
Meanwhile, an order issued by Director of Fisheries Manipur H Balkrisna has informed that the second edition of Emoinu Fish Festival scheduled to be held on January 22 at Hapta Kangjeibung has canceled due to the prevailing law and order situation.
