Imphal, January 20 2024:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the Brutal killing of four innocent farmers by Kuki Narco Terrorists, on Saturday met the chief minister and submitted a 9-point memorandum.
The Committee also stated that the dead bodies of the four victims will not be claimed until an agreement is reached with the government.
On Saturday, the JAC along with people of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou, families of the deceased and people from other parts of Bishnupur district boarded 10 vehicles including two buses and came to Imphal to meet the chief minister.
Later, a 16-member team consisting of eight men and women were allowed to enter the CM's Bungalow to meet the CM at around 11.35 am.
Speaking to the newspersons after meeting the chief minister, JAC convenor RK Tombisana said that the JAC members along with the family members and local MLA and Works minister Govinda Konthoujam submitted the memorandum to the CM, who assured of fulfilling the demands mentioned in the memorandum.
She pointed out that the central forces in Bishnupur district were allowed to stay in the area after the people agreed to it.
However, the killings have raised suspicions of the central forces colluding with Kuki militants.
Prior to the killings, personnel of 5 Sikh Regiment posted in the area often talked of collecting water from the location, or questioned whether anyone stayed the night at the water supply location.
On that fateful day, the Regiment said that they will come to collect water and sarcastically asked whether the victims wanted rice or foreign liquor.
Ten minutes later, around 5-6 armed Kukis arrived and murdered the four people.
As such, she urged for replacing the central forces with state forces, in addition to handing over the case to NIA or CBI and abrogating of the SoO agreement signed by the government of India with Kukis narco-terrorists.
Tombisana then said that the contents of the memorandum are meant to be put into action but no agreement has been reached.
Until the chief minister physically visits the victims' families and an agreement reached on the future steps to be taken, the dead bodies of the four victims will not be claimed.
However, the CM gave his assurances during the meeting and as such, the post mortem examination of the victims will be conducted on Saturday, before they begin decomposing.
Nonetheless, the dead bodies will still not be claimed until the CM Visits the families, she stated, while cautioning of launching intense agitations in case of failing to do so.
