Protest demands removal of security advisor

Kakching, January 20 2024:
A protest was staged by women of Pallel at Pallel Mamang Leikai on Friday demanding removal of security advisor Kuldiep Singh and replacing him by a qualified Meetei official as the chairman of Unified Command.
The agitators also chanted slogans such as culprits involved in killing of Moreh SDPO Ch Anand should not be released, deploy adequate state forces in Moreh, people of Pallel are with state forces, long live Manipur, etc.
Speaking to media persons during the protest which was organised jointly by Ching Tam Apunba Nupi Lup, Pallel and Pallel Meira Paibi Apunba Lup; Ching Tam Apunba Nupi Lup president Atom Nimgshi stated that women of the state do not want security advisor Kuldiep Singh to remain in his post as chairman of the Unified Command as the situation has only worsened since the conflict erupted in the state on May 3, 2023.Lamenting that due to present crisis the income generating capacity of people of Pallel has hugely suffered, she also noted that women of the area are on day and night vigil to keep the men safe.
A Nungshi continued that even though there is presence of security forces in the area, reports of killing of civilians despite presence of security forces have created an environment of fear.
She further said that authority concerned should address the panic among the public.
