Imphal, January 20 2024:
Thawai Mirel convenor Thongam Dara has urged the people of the state to put up black flags on their gates during the Republic Day celebration on January 26 to showcase the suffering of the state to the world.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday, Dara recounted that Thawai Mirel, while protesting over the conflict prevailing in the state for the past nine months, had flown the tricolour as citizens of this country.
However, the people of Manipur have been denied any rights provided under the Constitution.
As such, Dara urged all households, CSO offices, shops and offices of political parties to put up black flags on their gates and vehicles on January 26 to protest and showcase the plight of the people of Manipur to the world.
The convenor then termed the Kuki militants as evil spirits, cast by the central and state governments to torment the people.
It is time for the people not only to fend off the evil spirits but also deal with the caster of the evil spirits.
The ministers and MLAs are showing fake sympathy for all those killed by Kuki militants, Dara said, while stating that the government had orchestrated the deaths all those who have fallen victims to the bullets of Kuki militants.
