Blue Hawk crush YUCC by 111 runs as 4th Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy kicks off

Imphal, October 16 2023: Blue Hawk, Khurai notched up an emphatic 111 run victory against YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirang Purel Leikai in the opening match (Group B) of the 4th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2023-24 at Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College ground.

Put in to bat first, Blue Hawk bundled out for 166 in 31.2 overs despite L Binson's 81 ball 56 as L Joychand led the YUCC bowling attack and finished with a three wicket haul (3/41) in his spel of 7 overs.

Waikhom Rex also added 23 runs for Blue Hawk.

YUCC's N Kenedy and L Bidyashwor also picked two wickets each to set up the Blue Hawk Collapse but their efforts went in vain as they could muster only 55 runs in the chase.

I Siddarth of Blue Hawk enjoyed a three wicket haul and E Nikhil scalped twice to wreak havoc across the YUCC line up and eventually bowled out their rivals for 55 runs within 17.1 overs.

W Rex, E Nitish and M Romesh were also able to claim a wicket each to set up the Blue Hawk win.

Binson Laithangbam of Blue Hawk who hit a half century was adjudged man of the match.

Elsewhere at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, AKSDO, Khangabok rode on N Sanayai's unbeaten 40 runs to beat YWC-L (Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai) by 2 wickets for their first Group A victory.

YWC-L were bundled out for 126 runs in 32.5 overs despite Y Achouba's unbeaten 41 as AKSDO bowlers L Nungshiba (3/21), S Lanchenba (2/21) and S Dinesh (2/19) bowled too well.

In reply, AKSDO sealed the victory in 31 overs courtesy L Samson's 46-ball 26 and N Sanayai's unbeaten 39-ball 40 with two wickets left to spare.

The innings saw Y Brightson (2/26), Y Achouba (2/22) and Ziad Khan (2/18) sharing two wickets each in a lost cause.

N Sanayai of AKSDO who added 40 runs and picked one wicket was named man of the match.

In another Group A match staged at Dhobi Lampak, Kongba Khunou, MPA-Thounaojam trounced Al-Ameen-Lilong by 160 runs as Naoboy enjoyed a rare six-wicket haul to bowl out Al-Ameen for just 38 runs in the chase.

MPA amassed 198 runs for 7 in allotted 35 overs thanks to Chinglensana (38), Rohit (22), Albish (21) and Ruman (25).Aarish (3/26) and Hanif (2/40) led the bowling attack for the Lilong side before they were left shocked in the chase with Chinglensana (4/23) and Naoboy (6/10) completely owning their innings with their impeccable bowling performances.

Naoboy rightfully earned the man of the match accolade.

Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, ESU-Wangkhei Palace Compound thrashed SHADOW-Thangmeiband by 5 wickets.

SHADOW won the toss and opted to bat first but got bundled out for 63 runs in 18.4 overs as Naoba of ESU ran riot snatching 6 wickets in his spell of 5.4 overs.

ESU then chased down the target in 13.5 overs with Donba (15), Abhinash (13) and Naoba (9 not out) finding the runs.

Gushan of SHADOW picked three wickets for 26 runs while Lanchenba managed 2 wickets for 20 runs in this innings.

Naoba who shone with his bowling was adjudged man of the match.
