Tree saplings planted, aid extended

Imphal, October 16 2023:
Red Shield Division and Manipur police with support of Manipur Handloom & Handicraft Development Corporation Limited (MHHDCL) organised a tree plantation programme at Phougakchao Ikhai followed by distribution of relief materials to the villager's on Monday.
More than 100 fruit bearing and ornamental tree saplings were planted during the drive, which was participated by around 300 displaced people, who recently returned to their homes.
Food and clothing items including winter clothes were also distributed to the people.
Meanwhile, a team of Herbert School comprising teaching/non-teaching staff and students visited relief camps set up at Khomdonbi Memorial English School, Kakching Khunou Lamkhai and Elangkhang-pokpi on October 16 and provided essential items including blankets, stationery items, sanitary pads and edibles.
Several individuals and organisations namely Saikhom Brajakishore of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai, Lions Club of Imphal City, Takhellambam Rebika of Tera Keithel, Dr Chabungbam Mangi Singh of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai, Thoudam Prem Singh of Irilbung, Koijam Jai Jai Gopal of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai and Konsam Sangita of Khurai Thangjam Leikai also donated essential items and extended monetary aid to Yaibilen Children's Home.
Oinam MLA Irengbam Nalini also provided blankets to relief camps set up at Oinam Government Higher Secondary School, Leimaram Government High School and SC Girls' Hostel for sheltering people displaced by the present conflict in the state.
Students of CI College also provided study materials for the displaced students taking shelter in the relief camp set up at Old mini-secretariat complex, Bishnupur.
CCIAN Forum Peace Committee also distributed study and stationery items to Shamushang Shantipur Upper Primary School.
Under the project 'LCIF India for Manipur Crisis Relief', The International Association of Lions also provided essential items including blankets to relief camps set up at Koutruk community hall, Ima Panthoibi community hall Kadangband and Phayeng Ching Khunou Club.
