Fuel outlets to reopen from today

The agitation of closing down retail outlets of petroleum products in denunciation of attacks on oil tankers and assault of drivers, has been called off with immediate effect following an understanding and all petrol pumps will resume service from Tuesday.
A meeting was held at the office of additional DGP (L&O) at 11:30 am, Monday with officials of IOCL, transporters' association and POL/LPG TTs drivers' association during which agreement was reached on four points.
Following the understanding, the agitation of ceasing service has been withdrawn with immediate effect.
According to the agreement, police department shall depute a senior officer in Nungba area to conduct operation and coordinate movement of convoy along NH-37; enhance security at vulnerable areas by deploying additional MR/IRB personnel to prevent attacks and illegal collection of taxes by anti-social elements on the drivers/vehicles of the IOCL/ LPG/TTs; and sensitise CRPF and other security forces deployed along the NH-37 to enhance security during stoppage and movement.
Following the assurance made by the police department, the POL Drivers association also agreed to ply along NH-37 and unload (RO)/IOCL POL/LPG at Malom Oil Depot and Sekmai Gas Bottling plant.
A total of 122 petrol tankers, 92 diesel trucks are all set to unload the petroleum products at the oil depot on Tuesday following the agreement between the Manipur police and oil transporters and drivers.
