42nd State Age Group Athletics Championship : CWC-Nungoi gather 19 medals on opening day

Imphal, September 01 2023: CWC-Nungoi were able to secure as many as 9 silver, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals on the opening day of the 42nd State Age Group Athletics Championship 2023 organised by the Athletic Association of Manipur at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

Close behind the Nungoi based club are PRSC, Pourabi with 7 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals.

T Johnson of PRSC topped the men's 100 m competition with the best time of 11.43 seconds as Kh Premchand of HYC ran 11.66 to finish second and RK Tejkumar of MMC secured the bronze in 11.85 .

In the 60 m events for U-14 boys and girls competitions, ISA-Heirok's S Uttam Mangang (7.33 seconds) and Kh Lanchenbi (8.97 seconds) won gold medals as MMC's Vivek Khumukcham of MMC (11.44) and Premita Chanu A of CWC (13.34) bagged 100 m titles in the U-16 boys and girls competitions.

The 100 m title for the U-18 boys went to Md Aziz Khan Mughal of LSA-Lilong who took 11.05 seconds as M Bikash of CWC (11.36) and Md Aslam Khan of PRSC (11.61) second the silver and bronze medals.

A Ajita of CWC in the meantime claimed the U-18 girls 100 m gold with a time of 13.79 while PRSC duo-Y Babisana (14.37) and T Nandeshwori (15.02) secured the silver and bronze medals.

In the U-20 boys 100 m race, Md Daud Khan of MMC ran 10.79 seconds to earn the top honour as PRSC's N Manikhomba (10.92) and Kingson Maimom (11.25) finished second and third.

SSU's Kanishkha M in the meantime was the best in the U-20 girls competition as she took 12.94 sec in the 100 m competition.

Runali of SSU (14.15) and Y Sneha of CWC (14.41) finished second and third in the event.

In the 4x400 m mixed relay competition, CWC ran 4 minutes 10.17 seconds to finish on top as HYC team bagged the silver in 4:34.65. Triple jump
PYNK's Ritick N sealed the U-20 boys triple jump title with a 11.78 m finish as L Apu secured second with 11.31 m.PYNK's L Bembem also clinched the women's triple jump title with a 7.79 m jump as S Somananda of PRSC (11.75 m) and L Mangalsana of ISA (11.50 m) bagged the first two positions in the men's competition.

10,000 m race
T Sophia of KNSAA-Moirang secured the 10,000 m race gold in the U-20 category taking 50 minutes 14.03 seconds while Yumnam Arijit of CWC secured the boys title in 33:16.78 .

Y Gopeshwor Meitei of CWC claimed the men's title completing the course in 36 minutes 37.02 seconds while Kh Joychandra of HYC (37:57.60) and Th Roshan of LSA (40:42.50) respectively finished second and third.

300 m race
Ng Chingulembi of PRSC (44.48 sec) and Md Abul Kalam of LSA-Lilong (38.06 sec) secured gold medals in the U-16 girls and U-16 boys competitions.

400 m race
T Johnson of CWC (54.25 sec) and Y Bedarani of PRSC (70.85 sec) were able to secure the U-18 boys and girls' gold medals as RK Dayananda of SSU secured the U-20 boys' gold medal with a 52.25 seconds finish.

M Milankumar was the fastest in the men's competition taking 55.17 seconds.

Ngachanso of PRSC was second in 56.09 seconds and Habibullah of RAU secured the third place in 58.52 seconds.

1,500 m race
Kh Zaved of LSA (4:19.59) and S Mahen of CWC (4:27.78) secured the U-18 and U-20 boys gold medals while Mk Khalida Maslan of LSA (5:37.39) and Th Maria Chanu of HYC (5:40.61) sealed the U-18 and U-20 girls title.

HYC's N Tokyo clocked 4:25.76 to seal the men's 1,500 m gold medal while Chelsea Ruth of MSC (4:41.98) and N Somorjit of ISA (4:42.88) respectively secured the silver and bronze medals.

Kh Anjana of ISA was able to secure the women's gold medal with a time of 6:27.16 .

Discuss Throw
Lakshman L of KNSAA (26.53 m), Sahid Akhter of LSA (23.19 m) and H Adison of PYNK (38.34 m) secured gold medals in the U-16, U-18 and U-20 boys competitions staged today.

In the men's competition, O Alson of PYNK threw a staggering 53.32 m to win the gold medal as H Arunkumar (30.55 m) and Ch Bhagat of KNSAA (21.72 m) secured silver and bronze medals respectively.

4x600 m relay
PRSC team secured the gold medal in the 4x600 m relay competition with a time of 44.40 seconds while MMC and CWC teams took 45.27 and 46.94 seconds to settle for the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Medley Relay
The PRSC team finished on top of the men's medley relay race with a time of 2:11.52 followed by LSA (2:12.00) and KNSAA (2:15.69).CWC's team secured the women's gold medal by taking 2:31.84 while PRSC (2:45.13) and MSC (2:52.48) finished second and third.

Shot Put
Kh Yoihenba Singh of ISA (9.24 m), Chongdurlen Thanga of KAM (9.55 m), Ch Jackson of CWC (10.59 m) and H Adison of PYNC (11.28 m) were able to claim the U-14, U-16, U-18 and U-20 boys shot put titles.

KNS swept the men's medal tally in the competition with Ch Bhagat securing the gold medal with 9.17 m throw and Salam Sanajaoba finishing second with 6.90 m .

Kh Lanchenbi of ISA (3.85 m), Linthoi Khulem of ISA (5.63 m) and S Monika of PRSC (5.53 m) in the meantime secured the U-14, U-16 and U-18 girls shot put titles.
