UKAL submits list of desecrated holy sites

The Umanglai Kanba Apunba Lup (UKAL) has submitted an affidavit to the Commission of Inquiry (Manipur Violence) 2023 detailing the Meitei Temples and sacred sites that have been desecrated during the conflict.
According to a statement issued by Th Ratankumar Meitei, publicity secretary, UKAL, the affidavit submitted by Laipungbam Debendra, Centre for Organisation Research and Education (CORE) provides thorough details about Umang Lai worship places and associated sacred shrines, Bamon temples and associated worship places as well as sites dedicated to Apokpa (ancestral deity), Inkhol Lai (homestead deity),
Mahadev and many other shrines that were desecrated by Kuki militants during the conflict.
Some of the most notable Meitei worship places that were vandalized include Koubru, Thangjing, Kongba Maru Laiphamlen, Laimanai Sanamahi as well as Umang Lais (forest deities) including Maikei Ngakpa, Kondong Lairembi, Nungtheng Lairembi, Pakhangba, Panthoibi and Ireima among others.
It is worth mentioning that UKAL has previously registered FIRs at various police stations and submitted reports to many forums both in India and beyond concerning the desecration of 384 worship sites out of a total of 412, as per a report put together by a committee formed by UKAL after painstaking research.
