Imphal, January 08 2024:
Federation of Haomee (FoH), Kakching district has urged all not to launch election campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections before resolution of the ethnic conflict raging in the state.
In a release, FoH Kakching general secretary Elangbam Sushil reminded all concerned that the ethnic conflict since May 3 last has led to loss of many lives and thousands uprooted from their homes.'As many people are engaged in battling those invading the land, those inclined towards electoral politics put on hold all election-related activities, he advised.
While noting that in the past elections, numerous central leaders including the Prime Minister visited the state to shower love upon the state and its people, the secretary questioned the rationale for the same leaders to ignore suffering of the commoners due to onslaughts by armed Kuki militants.
People of Manipur are unlikely to pay heed to tall claims and promises usually associated with electoral politics unless NRC is implemented with 1951 as base year and the Kuki militants, who are posing threat to the territorial integrity of Manipur, are brought to book or chased out of the state, he opined.
