Long march to wind up today

The Manipur Youth League's Long March for National Regeneration will be wrapped up at Manipur University with a National assembly tomorrow (Tuesday) .
The long march flagged off from Kangla of December 20 last year has covered several places across all the valley districts of Manipur during the last 20 days.
Today's leg of the march was flagged off from Manipur College, Imphal West.
After passing through Singjamei Chingamathak, Yumnam Leikai, Moirang-khom, Thumbuthong and Thangapat Mapal, the marchers reached Lizard Library, Wangkhei Meihou- bam Lampak.
Briefing media persons there, Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) convenor Asem Prince remarked that Manipur society has been facing a number of challenges for quite a long time and the society has been degenerating in all aspects.
Volunteers of MAYOL set off on a long march since December 20 last year with the primary objective of starting a revolutionary movement for National regeneration, protection of identities of all indigenous communities, uniform development and harmonious co-existence.
Informing that the long march will conclude at Manipur University tomorrow with a National assembly, Prince said that the National assembly would deliberate on the major challenges being faced by the indigenous communities of Manipur, how the indigenous communities would overcome these challenges, what policies and programmes would be initiated to overcome these challenges and what responsibilities should be shouldered by the present generation.
He said that several resolutions would be adopted at the National assembly.
He also invited all the people to come and join the National assembly.
After a brief stopover at Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak, the long march made its way to Wangkhei, St George School Leirak, Khongman Mangjil and Singjamei Bridge before concluding the day's march at Kakwa.
The marchers would make their final journey from Kakwa to Manipur University campus tomorrow where a National Assembly would be held.
