Imphal, September 15 2023:
The Women wing of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has urged all to take part in a protest scheduled to be held at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on September 17 .
The protest demonstration called by the Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee (DMCC) will demand removal of Assam Rifles from Manipur and urge the Centre to end the 136-days old unrest in Manipur, said COCOMI Women Wing convenor Y Leirikleima.
At the office of COCOMI at Lamphelpat, Y Leirikleima told reporters that a 5-member team of the women wing will take part in the protest in Delhi on September 17 .
COCOMI Women Wing fully endorses the protest called by DMCC, she said, urging people in Delhi and surrounding places to join the demonstration.
The demonstration will demand the Central Government to remove the "biased" Assam Rifles from Manipur and crack down on "narco-terrorism" that has been unleashed upon the indigenous Meitei community in the name of demanding a separate administration for Chin-Kuki people, she said.
The protest demonstration in Jantar Mantar will condemn the Assam Rifles that has resorted to using "lethal force" against civilians, she said.
The COCOMI's women wing members will not meet the Home Minister or any other leaders of the Centre.
The members' visit to Delhi is to solely participate in the protest and tell the world of the atrocities that have been committed against the Meitei community by "narco-terrorists", she added.
The five members will leave Imphal for Delhi tomorrow, she said.
