Tamenglong, September 15 2023:
The Tousem Area Students' Organisation (TASO) decried the irresponsibility of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and its construction companies in connection with the unfortunate incident which took place between Mandeu village and Makhru River yesterday.
The Media and Publicity, TASO in a press release expressed dismay that many were left injured in yesterday's incident that took place under Tousem Sub-Division due to miserable road condition.
The State Government and NHIDCL and its cooperating units have turned a deaf ear to the several appeals made for all reconstruction of all the unwanted alignments between Tamenglong Headquarters and Tousem Sub-Divisional Headquarters left in a dilapidated condition for construction of NH-137 making this particular stretch an accident prone area.
In view of the above, TASO cautioned all concerned that the reconstruction of unwanted alignment should be done within 10 days failing which stern actions will be taken up and the authorities concerned will be held responsible for any unwanted outcome.
Further, the student body urged the District Administration to look into health facilities in Tousem PHC immediately.
