Imphal, September 15 2023:
JNIMS director professor Dr L Deven has informed that runners of private pharmacy shops and laboratories are restricted from entering JNIMS hospital with immediate effect and medical officers on duty will be held responsible for such unauthorised entry.
Informing this in a press conference held at his office here on Thursday, Dr Deven said that the decision was taken up following an unfortunate incident at the JNIMS ER involving death of a stroke patient, for which patient party blamed hospital staff of using strong words.
Narrating the incident, the director said that on September 11, a stroke patient named Nahak-pam Memchoubi (70) of Langthabal Mantrikhong was rushed to the ER.
Her family members requested for oxygen support.
However, her oxygen saturation was found normal and as the staff were talking with them, one person used strong words against the patient party, shortly after which the patient died.
Upon enquiry, it was found that the person who used strong words against the patient party was a runner of a pharmacy shop of laboratory.
Taking the matter seriously, JNIMS authority took up the decision to restrict such persons from entering the hospital.
Any person violating the restriction may face legal actions, he said and cautioned medical officers on duty to ensure that the restriction is strictly enforced.
The director further said that the hospital is providing its best services to the patients irrespective of their family background or financial position.
He also urged patient parties to be cordial with the staff of the hospital.
