Governor visits relief camps in Kpi, distributes relief materials

Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited Kangpokpi district today and distributed relief materials to 1,521 displaced people of 389 families staying in three relief camps, said PRO Raj Bhavan.
The relief packages distributed include blankets, mosquito nets, hygiene kits, kitchen sets, tarpaulins and sanitary pads.
She distributed financial assistance of Rs 1,000 each to pregnant and lactating women, patients and elderly people.
Eatables were also given to the children in the camps.
She first visited the relief camp at DIET Centre, Leikop Champhai, where she was welcomed by Textiles, Commerce & Industry Minister Nemcha Kipgen and Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari.
She heard the grievances of the 528 displaced people of 148 families staying there.
She assured them to extend all possible help stating that the Centre and State Governments are trying to end the ongoing unrest.
The Governor said violence will not bring any solution and therefore all have to shun violence and co-operate with the Government to bring peace and normalcy.
She continued that security forces have been deployed and all should help the forces without taking law into their hands.
She informed that temporary houses are being built and the displaced people will be shifted there for the time being.
They will be shifted to their permanent places once peace returns, she added.
The Governor also informed that adequate compensation will be given to all the affected people who have lost their homes and belongings.
Anusuiya Uikey then went to Zalen Community Hall Relief Camp and interacted with the displaced people taking shelter there.
She asked the district administration to provide all requirements including medical facilities there and distributed relief materials.
Later, she visited the relief camp opened at ITI, Kangpokpi and inquired about the facilities provided to 772 displaced people of 168 families there.
Talking to them, the Governor said all efforts are on to bring back normalcy and peace in the State.
She said, the President, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister have been apprised about the situation and urged to take appropriate steps to end the conflict.
The Governor asked the administration to take steps to enrol displaced children to nearby schools and to provide their requirements.
