Bishnupur, September 15 2023:
While stating that people of Leimaram Waroiching, who have been displaced due to the conflict and sheltered in the relief camp at Leimaram High School are not satisfied with the limited relief materials given by the government, Leimaram Waroiching Meira Paibi Lup president Th Bimola Devi has urged the government to provide adequate security so that they could resettle in their own homes.
Speaking to media persons at Leimaram community hall on Friday in the presence of members of local meira paibi groups, Bimola Devi pointed out that people of around 83 surnames living in Leimaram Waroiching fled from their homes since May 5 due to the conflict and are taking shelter at Leimaram High School.
The displaced people are facing serious inconveniences, she continued, while urging for deployment of central forces on the western side of Waroiching instead of on the eastern side as there are several Kuki villages on the former side in Senapati district.
She further urged the government to provide adequate security so that the displaced people could resettle in their homes.
Leimaram Yaipha Lamjing Lup president Sh Budhi Singh stated that Waroiching is a locality in Leimaram and continued that the attempt to deploy security at Waroiching pattaland area will not be accepted.
With the coming of 'Langban Tarpon', the displaced people want to offer floral tributes to their ancestors at their own homes, he said, while reiterating the appeal to the government to resettle the displaced people at their respective homes.
Though Kukis live in Bishnupur district, they are included under the jurisdiction of Keithelmanbi police station.
As such, the government should change this, he added.
