Imphal, September 15 2023:
COCOMI women wing said that a delegation of the committee will take part the protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on September 17 being organised by the Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee (DMCC) .
Confirming participation of the DMCC protest demonstration, COCOMI women wing coordinator Leirik Leima said Kuki-Chin narco-terrorists have been waging a war to extinct Meetei community since May 3.Under the shadow of the unrealistic separate administration demand, Kuki-Chin Narco-Terrorists continue to attack Meetei villages, kill innocent villagers, torch and destroy houses and rape women but the Government of India remains mute spectator to heinous crimes committed by narco-terrorists, she said.
Several Meetei women rushed to nearby AR camp for safety when Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists attacked Meeteis at Pallel on September 8.Instead of giving protection, AR personnel not only tortured the women but also fired live bullets towards them thereby killing two innocent people.
Pallel incident was not the isolated one that Assam Rifles carried out brutal crackdown against the Meeteis instead of giving protection, Leirik Leima said.
There are enough evidences of Assam Rifles siding with Kukis in the present conflict and accordingly COCOMI submitted a representation to the government for removal of Assam Rifles.
In pursuance to the demand, COCOMI women wing has been staging protest in different parts of the state and a five member delegation of the wing will take part protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on September 17 .
The main objective of COCOMI women wing's participation at the demonstration is to highlight attempts being made to uproot Meetei people and excessive action of AR against the Meetei community to the global people, she said and clarified that COCOMI women wing's visit is unrelated with holding talk with the Government of India.
She maintained the COCOMI women wing team will not meet any government official in New Delhi.
