Imphal, September 15 2023:
The Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL), Manipur has reminded all the Meitei compatriots including students that it is not the time for them to be celebrating festivities no matter where in India during this crucial juncture when Manipur as a Nation State within the Indian Union is facing the biggest challenge to its existence in it's 2000 plus years of history.
In a release, KKL asserted that it is not the time for the Meiteis to celebrate in the National Capital while the State is burning and more than 200 people have been killed and 96 bodies are still lying unclaimed.
"It is with great anguish and remorse that we have come to learn that the My Home India is organising a North East Students' Festival at the Talkatora Stadium on September 16 in New Delhi", said KKL while appealing to all the Meitei compatriots to not take part in any celebration till all the Meitei bodies are accounted for and are given their last rites according to their faith.
"On one hand we have the Kuki Marauders who had initially arrived at around 1830 AD declaring themselves as an indigenous people of Manipur and are now demanding a separate State for themselves to be carved out of Manipur funded by the revenue generated from Poppy Plantations, unleashing their pent up venom of anguish on the unsuspecting unarmed Meitei people in the periphery.
Killing, maiming and razing their traditional grounds to the ground", it claimed.
KKL further urged the Government of Manipur to not take any initiative to participate in the festival and the CSOs or NGOs who had partnered in this to pull out of the venture.
