Imphal, September 28 2023:
Drivers of vehicles carrying Rapid Action Forces (RAF) personnel deployed in different parts of the state have stopped providing transportation service to the central security force since Wednesday.
Confirming the development, a driver informed that transporters of the state extended help to Central forces deployed in the state to contain violence and provided transportation service in the hope that would be restoring normalcy.
However, as the situation in the state has been worsening each day, especially in the aftermath of brutal force used by RAF personnel against the people, drivers have decided to withdraw transportation service provided to the force considering the public sentiment, the driver said.
According to the driver, vehicles utilised for transportation of RAF personnel were requisitioned by the government while drivers only performed their duties accordingly and appealed to people not to think of the driver otherwise.
Drivers will cease service to RAF as per pulse of the people, the driver, who refused to be named, informed The People's Chronicle.
