ASHA workers demand release of pending honorarium

All Manipur ASHA Workers' Union (AMAWU) has demanded the state government to release their honorarium pending for five months before the Cheiraoba festival.
Addressing a press meet at Irawat Bhawan, here, on Saturday, AMAWU general secretary Paonam Asharani recalled chief minister N Biren in November, 2021, announcing enhancement of honorarium for ASHA workers with adjustment from the state's share and consequent release of honorarium for five months from April to August, 2022 followed by another release in September-November, 2022.After waiting for several months and much pressure, the government released honorarium for up to August 2023 on Friday, she said and on behalf of the Union conveyed gratitude to the government.
The general secretary then appealed to the government to release honorarium for up to January 2024 before the upcoming Cheiraoba festival.
