AR holds security meeting, tribute event

Assam Rifles conducted a security meeting with Kuki Inpi Chandel (KIC) and Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA) at Sajik Tampak in Chandel district.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the event participated by 38 KIC and KCA members including KCA president Letmang Haokip and KIC vice-president Lunthang Haokip of Kana area had a fruitful interaction and efforts were made to address various issues and concerns.
The interaction aimed at forging bond with local communities to foster collaboration for ensuring peace and tranquillity in the area which is an essential pre-requisite for social and economic progress and community development, added the PRO.
In another release, the PRO informed that Assam Rifles held a wreath laying ceremony at Sajik Tampak in Chandel district for rifleman Mahendra Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation on March 22, 2013 .
It recounted that on March 22, 2013, rifleman Mahendra Singh was part of a patrolling party at Kamlaching, Thoubal.
The patrolling party discovered an improvised explosive device (IED).
Mahendra Singh was by dispersing the crowd that had gathered at the site when the IED exploded and the braveheart soldier succumbed to his injuries, laying down his life as supreme sacrifice for the nation.
The tribute ceremony commenced with the wreath-laying wherein all ranks present paid homage by laying wreaths and thereafter a guard of honour was given.
