ZUF calls for free and fair polls

Expressing deep concern over increasing misunderstanding and violence subsequent to announcement of the 18th Lok Sabha election, Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) declared that it will take all possible measures to ensure that the poll is conducted in a peaceful manner and electorates choose candidates of their choice.
Greeting all the candidates contesting in the 18th Lok Sabha polls, ZUF said that those elected by the people have the responsibility to deliver justice to the people and bring peace and development.
The armed outfit also called for making the upcoming polls peaceful and free from money power.
Appealing to electorates in Naga areas particularly in Zeliangrong region not to indulge in poll related violence, a statement of ZUF said that electorates should be allowed to cast their votes for candidates of their choice in free and fair manner.
The outfit also strongly condemned repeated attacks on election campaign of Congress candidate for Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency Alfred K Arthur by an underground group and maintained that such heinous acts are not commensurate with the time.
