Senapati, March 23 2024:
Showing resentment over non issuance of party ticket to local leaders seeking ticket for the 18th Lok Sabha election, BJP workers of Senapati district vandalised party office situated at Old Road, Senapati.
The incident took place at about 10.30 am Saturday and identities of the perpetrators could not be ascertained as there were no surveillance cameras and eyewitnesses.
The vandalism disrupted normal office operations causing delay in workflow and financial losses while the office requires repairs and replacements.
The incident significantly reduced moral of party workers in the district.
Several office equipment and furniture were damaged including desks, chairs, computer monitors and printers were damaged in the vandalism.
Meanwhile, Karong BJP Mandal president Daiho Aminadab told media persons that Senapati district has one leader seeking party ticket for the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha elections, 2024 and party's grass root workers in the district were expecting ticket to a local leader.
However, BJP central leadership decided not to field party's candidate for Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency for the 18th Lok Sabha polls and rather declared to support candidate of another party.
The decision of central leadership enraged BJP workers in the district and blamed central leaders of lacking concern for workers in the grass root level, Daiho said adding this could be the reason of vandalisation of party office.
Security measures in Senapati town have been strengthened after the incident and law enforcement agencies taken up steps to identify the perpetrators and nab them.
