Mass anti-rabies vaccination drive held

In order to curb the spread of rabies among domesticated animals like cats and dogs, anti-rabies vaccination camps were organised in various districts of the State today.
At Thoubal, Youth Voluntary Association (YVA) Wangjing in association with District Veterinary Office Thoubal and Wangjing Veterinary Dispensary organised a free anti-rabies vaccination camp at YVA Ground at SK Leikai.
Altogether 154 dogs and 3 cats were administered anti-rabies vaccine at the camp conducted under the supervision of the Directorate of Vety & AH Services.
Dr RK Khogendrajit, Director, District Veterinary Office Thoubal; P Gojendro, Joint Director and Dr Y Sovarani, Veterinary Officer were present at the camp.
Similar anti-rabies vaccination programmes were conducted at Charangching Khullen, Charangching Khunkha, Kanankhu and Liwa Khullen village under Chandel district today.
Around 108 domestic animals (dogs and cats) were vaccinated at the camp organised by District Veterinary Office, Chandel under the Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur.
A mass anti-rabies vaccination programme was also conducted under the aegis of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) by many clubs under AMUCO in Imphal East district today.
Imphal East District United Clubs' Organisation (IEDUCO) carried out an antirabies vaccination programme at Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai while Northern Student Club (NSC) and United Northern Chung-Tam Association organised the same at Khewa Company Community Hall and Khewa Phurju Naharol Lamjing Phurup at Khewa Phurju LP School.
Altogether 200 cats and dogs were vaccinated at Khundrakpam while at Khewa Phurju the number stood at 185.The programme was attended by doctors and staff of District Veterinary Imphal East Porompat namely, Dr L Bimol, L Basanta AEO, Ksh Indira FA, AL Nabachandra FA, A Brajananda (Attendant), A Ashuppa (Attendant), M Khamba (Attendant) and K Nillamani.
In addition, representatives of AMUCO including K Santosh, secretary organisation (AMUCO), L Krishnachandra secretary publicity (AMUCO) and Y Inaocha assistant secretary organisation (AMUCO) among others were present.
Separately, Wangkhem Youth Club (WYC) in collaboration with Wangkhem Veterinary Office organised another camp at Wangkhem AC today.
Dogs and cats from the neighbouring villages of Poiroukhongjin, Huidrom leikai and Moirangsari were brought to Wangkhem to get the vaccinated.
The vaccination programme started at 7 am and concluded by 11 am.
Wangkhem Youth Club has urged the Veterinary Department to help conduct more such vaccination camps in the future.
