CEO meets CMOS; chopper RRTs formed

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur Pradeep Kumar Jha chaired a meeting with Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of various districts at the conference hall of the CEO's office, Lamphelpat on Saturday.
According to a CEO release, the meeting was held regarding cashless treatment for security, polling personnel and other employees who sustain injury or fall sick, while discharging duty in the poll process.
During the meeting, CEO Jha advised the CMOs to be fully geared up for providing appropriate medical facilities to security, polling personnel and others on election duty.
He also briefed those present on other necessary arrangements to be taken up by the CMOs concerned during the election process.
During the meeting, state nodal officer (Health) N Bino Singh made a presentation on the arrangement made by the Health Department which included constitution of two helicopter Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) one each for Imphal East and Imphal West, RRTs for 60 assembly constituencies, State Command Centre and District Command Centre among others.
He also informed about the issuance of notification regarding facilities of security, polling personnel and everyone on election duty and how they can avail cashless treatment both in public and private health institutions in case of any unwanted injury/accident.
Additional CEO Naorem Praveen Singh also attended the meeting.
Regarding the helicopter RRTs, the CEO elaborated that they would be pressed into service to ensure integrity of the electoral process considering the unrest situation prevailing in the state.
It may be mentioned that Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency reserved for scheduled tribes and Inner Manipur PC will go to the polls on April 19 and 26 respectively.
Approximately 200 companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed in sensitive areas of the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, for which 2,955 polling stations would be set up across the 60 assembly constituencies.
