Imphal, February 16 2024:
People's Alliance for Peace and Progress, Manipur (PAPPM) alleged that the on-going conflict in Manipur is being engineered by Kuki militants, chiefs, elites and frontal organisations like ITLF, COTU and Kuki Inpi at the cost of the lives of the Kuki serfs.
In a release, PAPPM president Mayanglambam Bobby Meetei stated that it is the autocratic Kuki traditions that have deprived the fundamental rights of the common Kukis.
At present, they are used as pawns by Kuki militants, chiefs, elites and frontal organisations and instigating them against Manipur to achieve their selfish ends, the president alleged, while cautioning that a day will come when the common Kukis will turn against these agencies misleading them.
At that time, ITLF will realise that it is too late to contain the fire started by them as it is happening now, the president added.
While condemning the mob violence related to the suspension of Churachandpur police head constable Siamlalpaul that unfolded in Churachandpur on Thursday evening, the president pointed out that the suspension of Siamlalpaul was initiated based on a video showing him mingling with armed militants.
The president then cautioned ITLF, the frontal organisation of Kuki militants, not to instigate the public to take law into their hands, adding that ITLF does not have the moral authority to blame the SP of Churachandpur.
The president also conveyed heartfelt appreciation to all those who participated in the widespread demonstrations held across the valley districts on Thursday in support of the PAPPM's call for mass protest under the theme "Purge the Kuki-Narco Terrorists: Save Manipur, Save India".
Stating that the commitment to the cause and dedication to the well-being of Manipur is truly commendable and the unity and Strength in addressing the crucial issues affecting Manipur are inspiring, the president drew the attention of authorities concerned to take up necessary steps against Kuki narco-terrorists for resorting to 'chemical warfare' and destruction of forests and environment.
