JAC demands safe release of abducted locals

Demanding unconditional release of the locals who have been abducted by unknown miscreants from the adjoining area of Phubala and Naranseina on the night of February 14, human chain was formed in Kwakta area in protest against the abduction and raised many slogans in addition to blockade of Tiddim road along the Kwakta stretch today.
Out of the three abducted locals, Mairembam Johnson of Moirang Mairembam Leikai was released safely in a Khordak area yesterday night however the whereabouts of Md Alimuddin of Kwakta Awang Leikai Ward No 2 and Md Abdul Latif Tampakmayum of Kwakta Khuman Gram Panchayat Ward No 8 is not known.
The JAC formed in connection with the incident held a public meeting today at Kwakta Bazar Public Ground to discuss the gravity of the issue.
The locals also formed a human chain from Kwakta Sericulture till Kwakta Lamkhai and carried out a rally from Kwakta Bazar till Terakhongkhongshangbi and Phougakchao Ikhai in protest against the abduction of civilians where slogans such as 'Stop Abduction of civilians', 'Stop demanding ransom', 'Release the abducted persons safely', 'We want peace', etc were raised.
Speaking on the sidelines, JAC convenor Khut-heibam Tamijur Rahaman appealed to all concerned to release the two abducted Meitei Pangals by tomorrow afternoon failing which intense agitation will be carried out and sought support from all sections of the people towards the cause.
