CCpur violence: Mini-Sectt torched, two killed

Two persons were reportedly killed as security personnel opened fire to control unruly mobs that vandalized and set on fire Government offices located inside Churachandpur mini-secretariat complex and many vehicles used for transportation of Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel last night.
Two other persons injured in last night's incident are undergoing treatment in Churachandpur district hospital ICU in critical condition, sources informed.
Bodies of the two deceased identified as Letlalkhuol Gangte s/o Khamkhomang Gangte of Nalon village, Henglep and Thanggunlien Haokip s/o Seilal Haokip of S Canan Veng, Tuibong have been deposited at Churachandpur district hospital morgue for post mortem.

Sources stated that those who sustained minor injuries were reportedly discharged after giving treatment last night and today while 15 persons are still undergoing treatment at Churachandpur district hospital.
Out of them, nine are undergoing treatment at surgical ward and four in Ortho ward while two are being kept on ventilation at ICU.
Soon after the incident, internet service was suspended in Churachandpur district for five days and section 144, CrPC was imposed to control the situation.
Security personnel comprising Army, RAF, CRPF and BSF carried out flag march at Churachandpur town to maintain law and order and bring the situation under control.
There is no report of any kind of unwanted incident till the time of filing this report.
On the other hand, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) imposed a total shutdown in Churachandpur today in protest against the death of two individuals in firing by security forces last night.
At around 8 pm on February 15, a large unruly mob numbering more than 300 gathered at the SP's residence located inside the Churachandpur mini-secretariat complex demanding withdrawal of the suspension order of Head Constable Siamlalpaul.
At the same time, another unruly mob started burning vehicles used by RAF personnel and vandalising Government buildings and other properties of the mini-secretariat, DC office and SP office.
The mob also attacked security personnel by pelting stones and other hard objects.
Security personnel, in order to control the situation and disperse the unruly mob fired tear gas shells and mock bombs but the unr ly mob continued to attack security personnel and went on the rampage burning and destroying Government properties.
This forced the security personnel to fire live rounds in which two persons were killed and many others sustained injuries.
The unruly mob was finally brought under control at around midnight.
Mention may be made that an unruly mob attacked the Churachandpur SP's residence located inside the mini-secretariat complex soon after Head Constable Siamlalpaul was placed under suspension.
The suspension order was issued after an enquiry regarding a video which went viral on social media wherein Siamlalpaul was seen along with armed Kuki miscreants in a bunker holding gun and taking position to launch attack on Meitei villages.
