Imphal, July 17 2023:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has asserted that a special session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly should be convened at the earliest to discuss the ongoing violence and adopt an appropriate resolution.
A nine-member team of COCOMI held a meeting with 26 legislators including the Assembly Speaker and some Ministers today.
Speaking to media persons at their Lamphelpat office after the meeting this afternoon, COCOMI coordinator Jeetendra Ningomba said that they urged the legislators to convene a special session of Manipur Legislative Assembly at the earliest.
The special session should adopt an unambiguous resolution that the ongoing violence was engineered and triggered by Chin-Kuki terrorists.

The State Assembly should also adopt a resolution to wipe out all Chin- Kuki narco-terrorists from the soil of Manipur.
"Pointing out that the State Cabinet had already taken a decision to withdraw the State Government from SoO agreement, we urge the legislators to endorse the Cabinet decision through a resolution of the State Assembly and send the same resolutions to the Central Government", Jeetendra said.
The State Government should put an end to enforcement or any tendency to enforce two different sets of laws in the valley and hill areas of the State, the COCOMI told the legislators.
They also urged the legislators to adopt another resolution which categorically says no to creation of a separate administration in Manipur, according to the COCOMI coordinator.
It is a matter of grave concern that certain incidents which could lead the present crisis to misinterpretation and wrong direction are unfolding nowadays, he said.
It is rather disappointing that innocent people including women have been assaulted.
The killing of Lucy Maring at Keibi Heikakmapal on Saturday has hurt the sentiments of all the people, the COCOMI coordinator said.
He said that such incidents are a blot to the thousands of years old Manipur civilization.
Such incidents will only create distrust among the indigenous communities of the land.
"We need to carry on our struggle with a clear understanding of who are our friends and who are our enemies", Jeetendra said.
Informing that COCOMI is organising a public convention on July 21 at Khwairamband Keithel on the present crisis, he invited all the people and stakeholders to the convention.
