Senapati, July 17 2023:
The All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) appealed to all concerned to address the grievances of the student community in the backdrop of the prevailing situation in the State.
A press release by the Department of Information and Publicity, ATSUM expressed regret that the student body had to maintain silence ever since the crisis began to prevent disunity and misunderstanding among different communities.
However, ATSUM is obligated to raise important concerns affecting the student community for prompt redressal during this time of grief and pain which is relentlessly affecting the State, said the release.
The student body went on to highlight that the student community bore the brunt of the situation where thousands had to flee their respective educational institutions in both valley and hills seeking for safety.
While students and families are running pillar to post for readmission in educational institutions in safe areas for continuation of student's academic courses, myriads of difficulties are faced by the students, it added.
It went on to state that the ongoing imposition of internet services in the State for more than two months has caused more suffering to the people especially the student community who are denied access to information and other academic materials.
ATSUM urged the State Administration to emphasise on building confidence and bridging the gap between communities rather than imposing policies like "No Work, No Pay" which may aggravate the wounds of the Government employees across all communities who had fled seeking for safety.
While expressing discontentment over the Central and State Governments' failure to end the mayhem in the State ATSUM sought immediate attention of the State Administration, authorities concerned and educational institutions to address the grievances of the students by facilitating One time exemption of admission fees, transfer of students names from one school to other in BOSEM/COHSEM, transfer from State board to Central board and vice-versa.
Lastly ATSUM appealed to all 'to stop this madness of violence and give humanity a chance to prevail' .
