Meitei Leepun asserts chief's innocence

Expressing faith in the law of the land, Meitei Leepun has asserted that its Thouburel Pramot Singh will emerge innocent of all charges with regards to a case filed by Manipur Tribal Forum Delhi.
The case is in connection with a statement made by the chief to a TV channel.
In a press release, Meitei Leepun has appealed to all citizens not to misinterpret their statements for purposes of vested propaganda.
Meitei Leepun further asserted that it upholds the directives of the Supreme Court of India wherein the bench of Chief Justice DY Chadrachud and Justice PS Naramsimha ruled "We don't want the proceedings and this Court to be used as a platform for escalation of violence and other problems in the State.
We cannot take law and order and security apparatus in our hands.
It is for the Union of India and Manipur" during the hearing of the case filed by Manipur Tribal Forum Delhi against the Meitei Leepun chief.
Meitei Leepun has also urged the Government of India and Manipur to take immediate steps to restore normalcy in the State as prolonging the conflict may lead the State on a path to disaster.
