Imphal, July 17 2023:
Pointing out to the present government in power not to worry over whether the people will suffer or not if the legislators resign as clinging on to their respective posts and position out of greed would not bring solution to the present crisis, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has challenged the BJP government to restore peace if it has the guts or the chief minister and cabinet ministers steps down in the interest of the state.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan here on Monday, MPCC general secretary P Saratchandra said that with the crisis in Manipur entering the third month, people of Manipur are suffering indescribably yet the state and the central government seem unbothered.
Both governments at the centre and in the state are either reluctant or undermining the importance to work out strategies to save Manipur.
The Prime Minister instead of showing concerns for the state is busy touring foreign countries.
Therefore, there is little hope of peace being restored in the state in the near future and people of different communities living in harmony.
The general secretary further stated that despite chief minister N Biren acknowledging the fact that the ethnic clash in the state had occurred due to lapses on the part of the state intelligence, the government has not taken up necessary measures to come to the rescue of the people of Manipur.
Sharatchandra also appealed to the government to maintain law and order in the state, control the present crisis and let the people live in peace and harmony suggested that the government mention the time when it will be able to restore peace in the state.
If the government cannot provide assurance to the people for timely peace, the chief minister and all the ministers should resign on moral and humanitarian ground in the interest of the public.
