Study materials distributed to displaced students

The Child Care and Educational Foundation (CCEF), Wangjing in Thoubal district has provided free admission to 13 displaced students who are taking refuge in relief centres.
The displaced students were provided free admission under CCEF's theme 'Help to Mankind' .
In connection with the initiative, learning materials including school uniforms, text books, note books, stationery items were distributed to these students today during a simple function held at CCEF.
The learning materials were sponsored by well-wishers in the interest of these students.
Displaced students from Moreh and Yumnam Khunou currently staying at Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports complex have been covered under the free admission scheme.
Today's programme was attended by former Minister Dr M Nara, former DDO of ZEO Thoubal Tekcham Bikomdas, former Principal of Heirok Higher Secondary School, well-wishers and sponsors.
Speaking at the occasion, CCEF Chairman, L Jaishyam maintained that it is disheartening to see that the students who have been rendered homeless by the conflict which has crossed more than 70 days are unable to continue their education.
Considering the plights of these students who are the future assets, CCEF will continue to provide all possible aid to them in addition to the measures taken up by the Government, Jaishyam assured.
He further appealed to all to strive collectively to restore peace in the State as violence will bring no good.
The donors while speaking at the occasion appealed to all to take up all possible efforts to ensure that the studies of these displaced students are not affected and protect them from adverse effects of the ongoing violence.
To encourage the students displaced from various peripheral villages across the State due to incessant armed attacks from Kuki militants, Institute of Rural Education, Wangjing today distributed school uniforms, study materials to students who are residing at the relief camp opened at the school.
Speaking at the occasion, Principal of IRE Wangjing Narengbam Rajivkumar said the camp at the school specially for 50 students was opened to lessen the burden of relief camps at Kodompokpi Sports Complex and Lamding Higher Secondary School that are sheltering people displaced from Sugnu, Serou, Churachandpur and Moreh due to the ongoing communal crisis.
