NFR plans trial run till Khongsang on July 22

In view of the prevail ing law and order situation, movement of essential commodities to the state had been completely cut-off.
With the cooperation of the state government, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is taking initiatives to transport essential commodities and other food items to Manipur.
As a trial run, six wagons carrying essential items will be brought till Khongsang on July 22 .
According to a report, to ensure the success of the initiatives taken up by the state government and NF Railway, construction of the approach road from NH-37 till the platform of Khongsang railway station is being taken up in rapidly.
Structures close to the platform are being removed to facilitate vehicles coming at Khongsang railway station for carrying the essential items, in changing directions.
The report further stated that as the said approach road is quite steep and not in good condition, loaded vehicles may face difficulties in travelling along the same.
However, efforts are being made to repair the road to reduce the difficulties.
Meanwhile, a press release by NFR chief public relations officer Sabyasachi De on Monday informed that the Khongsang Railway station under NF Railway located in Manipur has been opened for loading and unloading.
Khongsang station is the latest station which was commissioned in 2022 in the Jiribam-Imphal new line proj ect.
The line was suspended due to prevailing law and order situation in Manipur.
A marketing inspector has been specially deputed in Imphal for the convenience of Manipur based traders to book the commodities through Railways.
The marketing inspector will be available round the clock for any queries of the traders.
All Manipur-based traders can now avail the facility of booking essential commodities from Khongsang station.
Khongsang Goods shed operates from 6 am to 4pm on daily basis.
Under special consideration for the state, piecemeal booking of wagons has been allowed for Manipur for the time be ing.
Already, onions from Maharashtra, potato from West Bengal arid FMCG products from Assam haye been booked for the state, The initiatives taken by NFR are expected to be of great help for the people of Manipur in the prevailing scenario.
