We trust in rule of law: Meitei Leepun

Referring to the di rective by a bench of chief justice DY Chandrachud and justice PS Naramsimha of the Supreme Court, Meitei Leepun has appealed to parties concerned not to misinterpret statements for vested propaganda purposes.
According to a Meitei Leepun release, during hearing of a case filed in connection with the present tur moil in Manipur by a Kuki organisation called Manipur Tribal Forum Delhi against Meitei Leepun chief Mayeng-bam Pramotchand Singh, the bench had said, "We don't want the proceedings and this court to be used as a platform for escalation of violence and other problems in the state.
We cannot take law and order and security apparatus in our hands: It is for the Union of India and Manipur" .
The release said, "Meitei Leepun stands for territorial and political integrity of India.
We are committed to abide by and deliver our duty as per our constitution" .
"We should understand that Manipur is a mini India which is characterised by peaceful co-existence of diverse communities respecting their culture and identities.
Therefore, we trust in the law of the land and shall emerge innocent of all the charges against the chief of the Meitei Leepun.
We are hopeful that the Kuki CSOs as will continue to do so, " the release stated.
Meitei Leepun further appealed to the governments of India and Manipur to take immediate steps to maintain peace and bring normalcy in the state at the earliest.
