Two held in Konjeng Hazari shooting case

Police have arrested two individuals in connection with Saturday's shooting incident at Konjeng Hazari Leikai that left five people injured.
The arrested individuals identified as Gurumayum Rayban (27) and Alex Nin-gombam (24), both residents of Brahmapur Lalji Lakpa, have been remanded in police custody for 10 days after producing them before a magistrate.
Police source said that they recovered a scooter used by the armed assailants and the two were arrested upon tracing the owner of the scooter.
Both of them were arrested from their respective houses on Monday.
Further investigation is going on to arrest the remaining assailants.
Meanwhile, Keishamthong Leikai 25 Apunba Nupi Lup (KLANL) condemned the firing incident that left five people injured at Khwairakpam Leikai on October 14 .
In a release, KLANL decried intimidation of innocent civilians with use of firearms amidst the unrest situation in the state.
Demanding arrest of all those involved in the incident and stringent punishment according to the law of the land, the Lup urged the state government to bear cost of treatment of all the injured people.
It also pledged support to any movement launched by the JAC.
About 20 unknown persons in an attempt to abduct one Khaidem Seityajit also known as Bobo (38) on Saturday around midnight opened fire injuring the five people.
On Sunday evening, local residents of the surrounding areas under the aegis of the newly formed JAC carried out a protest rally against the armed assailants and their unlawful activities.
The JAC also submitted a memorandum to the chief minister with an ultimatum to arrest the assailants by Monday at 2 pm .
