STSU calls indefinite bandh on NH 102-A

The Southern Tangkhul Students' Union (STSU) has announced imposing to indefinite bandh along NH 102-A, in the Kasom Khullen-Yairipok stretch alleging misappropriation of funds meant for the PMGSY projects and the state government ignoring the same despite repeated appeals.
During a press conference at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday, Union president Yarchuiso Kashung expressed concern over the mismanagement of funds allocated for PMGSY projects.
The projects include Yaingangpokpi to Chadong, Kangkum to Wangli, Nongdam, and Sikibung to Lou-phung roads.
He accused the individuals involved with the projects of misappropriating funds without executing the projects.
The Union president informed that the Union had submitted memorandums to the chief minister and the RD&PR minister on February 2 and 6 respectively, urging for conduct of field examination for the four road packages and complete the projects before Christmas.
However, there has been no positive response from the government till date.
In an attempt to seek transparency, the Union also filed a RTI application, but there has been no response even after two months have passed.
Frustrated with government's indifferent attitude, the Union decided to declare an indefinite bandh on NH 102-A to highlight their grievances.
Yarchuiso further stated that they will pursue the matter with the union minister since the state government continues to ignore their concerns.
