AR dismisses MFO allegations

Imphal, February 03 2024:
In response to a news item published in the February 2 edition of this daily headlined 'Maring bodies allege SF excess', Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) refuted the allegations levelled by Maring Frontal Organisation (MFO) regarding the incident involving one DK Korungthang.
In a rebuttal, the PRO stated that contrary to the claims made, Korungthang s vehicle was not impounded by the security forces.
The vehicle, a Maruti Gypsy, was left untouched, and all belongings, including cash inside it were also not disturbed.
Based on credible informa tion, Korungthang was questioned by the security forces.
On the basis of the information provided by Korungthang himself, the vehicle and the cash were retrieved from the initial site by the security forces and promptly deposited with the local police as evidence.
While stating that they understand the concerns raised by MFO, the PRO assured the public that the security forces conducted the operation with utmost professionalism, adhering to the law and respecting individual rights.
The security forces remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of the region, the PRO added.
