Imphal, February 03 2024:
The Government of India is set to take some important deci-sions in the interests of the people of Manipur, according to Chief Minister N Biren.
"Rest assured, the Government of India is set to take some important decisions in the interests of the people of Manipur", N Biren tweeted in X (formerly Twitter) .
Chief Minister N Biren left Imphal for New Delhi on Friday afternoon on the invitation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
N Biren held a meeting with Amit Shah at New Delhi today.
"Today, I had the esteemed privilege of meeting with the Hon'ble Union Minister Amit Shah ji in New Delhi.

Chief Minister N Biren also held another meeting with Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka and Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
The two key officers of the Centre reportedly assured N Biren that the Centre would soon take up some positive steps.
The meeting between N Biren and Amit Shah assumed significance in the backdrop of the Kangla Congregation of January 24 where 37 Meitei legislators and two Meitei Members of Parliament swore an oath and signed on a charter of demands.
The resolutions included urging the Government of India to (1) Update the National Register of Citizens, (2) Abrogate the Suspension of Operations with Kuki militant organizations, (3) Construct fence along the Indo-Myanmar international borders, (4) Remove the names of Kuki illegal immigrants from the Scheduled Tribes list of Manipur, (5) Replace Assam Rifles with other Central Security Forces, etc.
However, what exactly transpired during the meeting between Amit Shah and N Biren could not be ascertained.
Notably, the Union Home Minister earlier pointed out in the Parliament that problems started in Manipur with the influx of Kuki refugees from neighbouring Myan-mar after the military junta there started a crackdown against militants in 2021 .
The Kuki refugees started settling down in the jungles of Manipur, raising fears of a demographic change in the region, Amit Shah had said, adding that the unrest began when rumours started circulating that refugee settle- ments had been declared as villages.
After the meeting with Amit Shah, N Biren was joined by Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata from Bengaluru and the two jointly inspected the ongoing construction work of a new Manipur Bhavan at Dwarka, Delhi.
The Chief Minister and the Speaker are expected to reach Imphal on Sunday.
