Human Rights Alert lauds

The Human Rights Alert has conveyed its appreciation to Jinatree Thounaojam and Hemabati Khongbantabam for successfully projecting the Manipuri culture & burning issues most effectively in the Children's Inclusive Parliament held at New Delhi from January 24-31, 2024 .
According to a release issued by Babloo Loitongbam, executive director Human Rights Alert, Jinatree and Hemabati participated in the Children's Inclusive Parliament organised by Pratyek Foundation as a child parliamentarian and animator respectively.
In the gathering of children from 75 parliamentary constituencies from all over India, the evening of January 28, 2024 was especially dedicated to the victims of the ongoing violence in Manipur.
In the solemn function graced by Keisham Pradip, Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, the children prayed and sang together for peace in Manipur and lit candles to dispel the darkness.
The function also marked the Delhi launch of Citizen's Action for Manipur where citizens from across India are conducting simple programs calling for peace and justice in Manipur.
The Children's Inclusive Parliament also brought out a Children's Manifesto for the 2024 Parliamentary Election.
They also met several MPs and political parties to lobby for their issues including allocating nine percent of the Union Budget for Education and Health.
Specific recommendations pertaining to implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the UN Convention on Rights of the Child(CRC) were also highlighted.
On the last day, a team of child parliamentarians from the North East visited RK Ranjan, Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs and presented a copy of their manifesto where he gave a patient hearing to the aspirations of the children and assured them to take them onboard.
Human Rights Alert has extended its gratitude to the Mega Manipur Society for sponsoring Jinatree Thounaojam and Hemabati Khongbantabam, without which it would have been impossible for them to participate in this national process and represent Manipur.
