Imphal, February 03 2024:
The Awang Sekmai Nongthonband Youth Club has called for resumption of construction work on the road leading to Sekmai Nongthonband Gas Bottling Plant by February 15, 2024 .
A statement issued by L Dhana Singh, president, Awang Sekmai Nongthonband Club shared that renovation of the road stretch which is roughly 1 km away from NH-2, began in April of 2023.But due to the unfortunate eruption of violence on May 3, 2023, all construction works have stopped.
Pointing out the importance of the road stretch which is under the PWD, the statement maintained that gas cylinders used in every kitchen of the State are brought to their respective destinations by plying through this road.
However, the poor condition of the road stretch has spelled trouble for the locals living on either side.
Frequent squabbles arise between the residents and drivers as a result of the dilapidated road condition, the statement asserted.
Since the eruption of violence, even the contractor responsible for the construction work has completely neglected the renovation work, alleged Awang Sekmai Nongthonband Club.
The Awang Sekmai Nongthonband Youth Club further appealed to the contractor concerned and the State Government to resume construction of the road stretch leading to Sekmai Nongthonband Gas Bottling Plant by February 15 .
