Translation workshop held

Writers Forum Imphal on Saturday organised a "Translation workshop of Manipuri short stories into Kabui, Mao, Poumai & Tangkhul Languages" at the conference hall of the Directorate of Trade, Commerce & Industries in Lamphelpat, Imphal.
The workshop was conducted under the aegis of Chief Minister gi Artistesinggi Tengbang (CMAT), Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur.
The inaugural function was attended by Keithellakpam Dinamani, Director, Art & Culture Department, and Keisam Priyokumar, president Writers' Forum Imphal as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Keithellakpam Dinamani appreciated Writers' Forum Imphal for organising such a unique workshop.

He shared that translating folk tales of Kabui, Mao, Tangkhul, etc to other languages will promote cultural exchange among the ethnic groups of Manipur.
Writers' Forum Imphal treasurer L Somorendro said that the short stories translated during the workshop will be published to introduce the beauty of Manipuri literature through different dialects across the State.
He also asserted that the Forum has been making efforts to promote the literature of Manipur and has published 234 books so far along with a number of short stories, poems, etc.
The workshop was attended by noted writers and representatives of literary organisations from the Kabui, Mao, Poumai and Tangkhul communities.
