Weeklong faculty development programme commences

A one week faculty development programme on the 'Application of Remote Sensing and GIS in Geographical Studies' kicked off yesterday at Jiri College conference hall.
The faculty development programme is being organised by the Department of Geography, Jiri College, Kadamtala, Jiribam in collaboration with the Department of Geography, Manipur University under the sponsorship of the Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur.
The inaugural programme was graced by Jiri College Principal Rajkumari Sanachaobi Devi, Jiri College Geography Department Assistant Professor N Mohen Singh and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Coordinator of Jiri College, Nongthongbam Dhyanchand as the presidium members.
Dr Nongmaithem Ajith Singh, OSD (IT) of the Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur also attended the programme through online mode.
The resource persons of the weeklong programme include Professor Khundrakpam Pradipkumar Singh, Head of Geography Department, Manipur University; Assistant Professors Dr Abujam Manglem Singh and Dr Sunanda Kundu.
Speaking about the programme, Dr Th Somorendro, Head of Geography Department, Jiri College said that a proposal was sent to the Directorate of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur to conduct a faculty development programme for the faculties and staff of Jiri College to help them keep updated with the new changes as per the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 since the same has already been implemented in Manipur University.
He expressed gratitude to the Directorate and the Department of Geography, Manipur University for conducting the programme.
